I have used mine to cut drywall, plaster, wood, plastic and even old window putty (glazing compound). I have used it overhead to 'chase' cracks in plaster so I could repair them with Durabond. You need to use both hands as it is very powerful but I haven't had any trouble keeping a straight line so far. Like any rotary cut-out tool, it breaks bits!
